Stormtrooper Cake

I made this stormtrooper helmet cake for Frank's 40th birthday. I was almost in tears as the cake settled more than I anticipated - so the nose of the helmet came away from the rest of the cake...man - it was close to perfect before the fondant was put on. In hindsight, I would have done the helmet part as cake and then do the nose part solely with fondant. This is a SIX layer vanilla cake with a chocolate swiss meringue buttercream frosting...YUM!

I guess I'll have to keep trying to get this perfect...the only good news that day was that Trey (4 years old) knew, when this was just crumb coated and before I covered this with fondant, that this was a stormtrooper! What a good kiddo! The most fun and the most annoying part of this project was carving the cake. I put so much detail into this that didn't come across in the final product - arg!!! Frustrating.

Smash Cake

This is the smash cake made for Mai's nephew - they requested a jack-o-lantern - I had a great time doing a mini pumpkin. Here's the before and after I drew the face...in hind sight I may have carved the face in - but instead I used an edible ink pen.

Halloween Cuppies for a 2nd Birthday Party

A Halloween 2nd birthday for Mai Mai's nephew - this was really fun to do. These are chocolate, vanilla, and red velvet cupcakes with royal icing toppers. The only request was that I have the characters smile and friendly. :)

I saw these Hello Kitty stormtroopers off of a Google image search...not my creativity - but it was way too cool to pass up!!! Kudos to the brain behind the design!

Mr. The King

After months and months of searching for lost party photos - I have found one...and only one picture of Trey's 3rd birthday.

Sadly - I had wonderful pictures of friends and family that attended - and also detailed photos of the Mr. The King cake Trey begged me for.

This was truly a challenge - as most boys, you would imagine, would ask for a Lightening McQueen cake. No no. Not Trey. So...I did with what I could and created this cake for him.

Can you tell he was excited?!?

Now...we just have to find the rest of the day's pictures and I'll be able to rest. Here's the worst part...we can't seem to find ANY photos from Brody's 1st birthday party a few months prior! * sigh * Four months of history...gone.

A Birthday and Company Soft Launch

My friend Mai Mai asked me to make mini cupcakes, regular cupcakes and jumbo cupcakes for her cousin's 30th birthday and company soft launch party. I made a moist and fluffy red velvet cupcakes and chocolate mini's with cream cheese frosting all adorned with royal icing monogrammed "B's". The jumbo red velvet cakes were filled by request of the birthday girl with Ube ice cream - YUM!

Zachy's Movin' On Up...

Zachary has graduated from the infant room to the crawling room - although he's not yet crawling...as a thank you to Miss Carmen and Miss Rosario, I made fondant covered "apple mini cakes" for them. These were super fun to make - and could only be made better by an (cross your fingers!) airbrush machine...my birthday's coming up!!! :)

Travis' 34th Birthday

I decided to make Travis Boba Fett and Clone Trooper cupcakes. These are chocolate creations atop chocolate espresso cuppies. I went with a light whipped frosting to balance out the intense chocolate flavors.

I brought these to his work along with some gourmet rootbeer and had a party in an empty cubie! :)
